Direct Attach Storage

Direct attached storage is the term used to describe a storage device that is directly attached to a host system. The simplest example of DAS is the internal hard drive of a server computer. Even the storage devices housed in an external box are also considered under DAS. DAS is the most common method of storing data for computer systems. It is ideal for environments where not everyone requires the cost & complexity of SAN etc. It uses the well-defined SCSI technology. JBOD, arrays & tape libraries are the most dedicated DAS devices. The main advantages of DAS are –

    -  Expand Storage Without Adding Servers
    -  Protect your data & your operations
    -  Scalable Storage
