When information storage was a fancy name in the IT industry, Neeraj Mediratta, Director of Ace Data Devices, was busy chalking out plans for a big leap into storage. Today, Ace Data is a sizable enterprise storage management service provider with over 100 clients, a Rs 12 crore revenue, and 30 employees. With over 60 percent of its business generated from EMC, Ace Data was recently upgraded to EMC Authorized Service Network Partner offering deployment, troubleshooting, and post-sales services to customers in the north. "Our association with EMC is more than six years old. We grew ourselves in data back-up space with Legato Networker (now acquired by EMC), and today we are EMC's network service partner. It's been an exciting journey," says a jubilant Mediratta who aims at doubling his revenue this financial year.
The company boasts of its core competence — storage management solutions. "We could have been an ordinary IT box pusher. But we realized it early enough that information storage, back-up, and consolidation will be the need of the future and thus focused on just one business, that's storage," he says.
A few years back when Ace Data started venturing into storage business, it was more of box selling than services. Today, the company offers a total trusted solution to its customers and it has an impressive list of customers ranging from top telecom companies like Bharti Televentures to insurance firms like Aviva Life Insurance.
Mediratta calls EMC an ethical partner. "In the past, we worked with some big storage vendors but found them unethical. EMC is a highly ethical company. We get immense technical and post-sales support from them," he says.
Ace Data, fulfilling nearly eight customer deployments every month, is not dampened by the slowdown. "The last quarter gave us a healthy business and there are enough projects in the pipeline. We have just started our southern India operations and will soon start roping in customers," concludes Mediratta.
